India concluded its campaign at the 13th edition of South Asian Games (SAG) with the highest-ever medal tally comprising 312 medals including 174 gold, 93 silver and 45 bronze medals. The host nation Nepal stands second with 206 medals and Sri Lanka at third position with 251 medals.
Indian wrestlers were indomitable throughout the games, winning 15 gold medals. Indian swimmers also put up a great performance by winning the highest number of medals. The Indian swimming contingent won 52 medals overall, including 27 gold, 19 silver and 6 bronze medals. Indian shuttlers also displayed a terrific performance at the games by bagging 8 medals in individual events including four gold medals, two silver and two bronze medals. India won gold in men’s and women’s singles badminton event and in the men’s doubles and mixed doubles event. India also won two gold medals in the men’s and women’s team events to finish at the top in the badminton medal standings.
